THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN CHARITY CATTLE DRIVE

Family Leg 1 - Longreach to Barcaldine

Longreach Illfracombe and Barcaldine - 18th May to 28th May

As we leave Longreach, with all its wonderful tourist attractions, behind, we head out the Landsborough Highway on our way to Barcaldine covering 107 klm’s over 11 days.

Passing by the Iconic Wellshot Hotel in Illfracombe – a great Instagram moment, and also the Machinery Mile where a Heritage museum hosts a wonderful display of machinery from days gone by and much of it collected from within 100 miles of the town.

Barcaldine is situated on the junction of the Capricorn and Landsborough Highways and is known as the Garden City of the West.  Famous for theTree of Knowledge, the reputed birthplace of the labour movement in Australia. Barcaldine is well known for its many country hospitality pubs where plenty of yarns are spun.

Arriving in Barcaldine on the afternoon of 28th May, there will be a well deserved rest day on 29th May in Barcaldine. The Barcaldine community are sure to have some amazing events organised to welcome The Great Australian Charity Cattle Drive.
