THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN CHARITY CATTLE DRIVE
THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN CHARITY CATTLE DRIVE
Barcaldine to Blackall - 30th May to 8th June - Rest Day - 9th June 2025
As we leave Barcaldine in our dust and lead our 2000 steers towards Blackall, also known as the beating heart of the outback. It’s the home of Jack Howe, local legend who gained fame in 1892 after shearing 321 sheep by hand in 7.5 hours. Also famous for the Black Stump and Australia’s last standing steam-operated wool scour. Relax in the mineral spas, watch the weekly livestock sales, or take a trip along the Matilda Way.
After 10 days on the road we ride into Blackall on the afternoon of 8th June and look forward to our rest day in Blackall on 9th June. As the weather is now starting to cool down and we head towards the shortest day of the year, the winter solstice, Blackall will no doubt have many surprises waiting for us. Sunsets and sunrises are always magnificent during an Outback winter in Australia.
